Hey my sweet bloggies!! How is everyone doing? I hope you are all having a fantastic week so far. Getting closer to the weekend ;) I started getting up and doing the morning workout thing again. 6am! not too bad compared to my 4:45am workouts from before. (Now that was tough for me!) but 6 is waay more reasonable. My body likes this as I found I have the best workouts in the morning. Nice and fresh and no food in the tummy yet. So makes for a fab workout sesh!
Just a quick note but do you ever notice that when January rolls around there are a TON of ads stating claims like “Eat this and lose weight!” “Lose 10 lbs in 3 weeks!” etc etc…They are always around I just notice they are really kicking come January. I think its weird since I don't think there's any “miracle” weight loss plan. Do you ever notice all these ads too? Crazy I tell ya!
But I digress…my workouts always leave me hungry. So of course I had my oats for breakfast (no pic since I ate these at work) and for lunch and big salad complete with vegan slaw dressing! Does this ever get old? Apparently not cause I eat it every single day!
Always a winner in my book. Moving on though, I spiralized my little heart out for dinner tonight.
I was using up veggies in the fridge so sauteed up some leftover turnips and cauliflower and then tossed in the zucchini noodles. Added in tons of garlic, onion powder, some Braggs and hot sauce. Then once on the plate I topped it with tomatoes and some eggplant hummus. Sounds like a weird combo with the braggs, hot sauce and hummus but it turned out super good! Kinda salty, spicy and smokey all in one bite.
And again Im in the squash and almond butter. I just ate my way through my second Kaboucha this week so far. And now I have to make an emergency run to the market for more..
I sat down with my big steamin bowl of squash and watched Tabitha's Salon Takeover. I needed to turn the brain off for a little tonight and just veg. It amused me for a bit!
Later on I indulged in some chocolate raw balls right out of the freezer. Dark chocolate with an almond piece inside and rolled in coconut. Sooo good.
Im kinda get on food kicks at times. Where I just crave the same thing all the time! Do you ever get food cravings? If so what food kicks are you on? I think right now mine are pretty much all the foods listed. Ha! Although since Im running out of those staples Im gonna get a bit more creative tomorrow!
xoxoxox!!
Greek Yogurt giveaway!awesome Chobani Giveaway!
i was wondering if you could freeze raw balls (lol i am so mature) so it's great to know you can! i love braggs, makes everything taste better. those zucchini noodles look so professional! ugh all the weight loss talk in january drives me nuts, it's the stupid new year's resolutions that make people vulnerable to those fad diets.
ReplyDeleteWow, I envy your ability to get up so early! I don't think I could do it, at least not at this point in my life! I can't fall asleep early enough to get up that early haha.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love squash. I wish I weren't so impatient and could have perfectly roasted squash available to me 24/7 mmmm
I don't think I'm on any really obvious food kicks right now. I kind of want to be though! They can be fun :) And make decisions on what to eat pretty easy haha
i definitely crave the saem foods- kinda weird? maybe it is because our bodies get used to certain things that make us full/satisfied/energized. and i am impressed with your early workouts!! those raw balls sound so good. & i agree- the ads around this time of year about losing weight are soooo irritating!!

beautiful zucchini noodles and of course the choc raw balls....LOVE my balls as you love yours :)

I love morning workouts but I also really love sleep. Ideally, I would work out around 8AM every day but that's when classes start. So it's afternoon workouts for me! It's always nice to know that you've already done your workout and don't need to think about it the rest of the day, though.
ReplyDeleteI definitely crave certain foods constantly. Sweet potatoes, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, brie, broccoli. It's funny how little I crave sweets like chocolate though. Ice cream is another big thing that I crave.
Love kabocha. Having it with almond butter sounds fantastic!
Those zucchini noodles are beautiful and yummy looking! Oh and I love dark chocolate from the freezer, its the only way!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good week too! I totally get on food kicks and just MUST HAVE certain things. I love that you are making an emergency run to the store for squash. I'm making an emergency run for carrots and apples. Ahh the necessities (not bread and milk any more ;)).
ReplyDeleteSweet potatoes with nut butter is my kick right now ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy current food kicks would have to be banana whip with something to make it vanilla-y, anything maple and nutty, and organic white meat chicken! Even though we don't have any of the last one :-(
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteyou must be a vegetarian are you? not sure...whatever , you are very creative ...lovely eats! (i am not vegan or raw or anything...but like a lot of that stuff - and love your creativity. Food kicks - the story of my life :)
hey love!! i get on a food kick ALL THE TIME!! its ridic!! i go through phases..every single night b4 I go to bed i have kettle popcorn..it changes every few months tho! i love the spiralized veggies!!! i need to invest in a spiralizer. dark chocolate from the freezer is my FAV! i love how it melts in your mouth! have a great day girl!
ReplyDeleteyum, those chocolate balls sound great :)
ReplyDeleteYour food looks so fresh and delicious!
ReplyDeleteI get on major food kicks- I am still obsessed with butternut squash and brussels sprouts, and of course dates and almond butter. I should find some new food obsessions when I go shopping next time!
I've been craving the salty lately! Very odd, because I'm usually all about the sweet... but I'm still eating my fair share of chocolate ;-)
ReplyDeleteI want a spirilizer so bad!! I love seeing bloggies creations with them! I want to try some zuchinnni pasta
ReplyDeletei get in SUCH food kicsk! so much so that i will get sick of a food because I eat it so much! In college I went on an applesauce and cottage cheese (its great, don't knock it!) and after about 2 weeks straight of eating it together, I still to this day struggle with the two eaten together!
right now I am on my pumpkin protein shake kick! its soo good! I have been having it so much and its delicious
almond milk, canned pumpkin, PP spice, protein powder, cottage cheese and ice all blended--TRY IT!!!
I definitely have months where I will eat the same thing over and over. In the summer I ate salads for dinner all the time, then I went through an omelet phase, then a soup phase, now I'm fixing this by making sure I cook two new creative meals a week!
ReplyDeleteI have noticed the annoying ads for weight loss, or exercise equipment, or memberships. Seriously, the month of January is the time for all these crazy companies to make their profit for the year! Meanwhile, robbing everyone else of their hard earned money....ugh!
I loved my break so much.... today was my first 6am trekking class in about a month. I was yawning through the whole thing!
ReplyDeletei'm still shocked that i crave oatmeal virtually every single morning and salad every single afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Tabitha is INTENSE, no?
ReplyDeleteI definitely get in food ruts. It used to annoy me, but now I just go with it and let it work its way out of my system. Eventually I stop craving it w/o realizing it and move on to something else! Much easier than forcing myself off something just because it's repetitive, in which case I feel sad for myself, haha.
Thanks for your kind comment on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteMy thesis was related to food safety. Specifically, I did a survey to find out what personality traits, and beliefs of dietitians predict whether they will teach fresh vegetable food safety. Strange, I know, but I had a lot of fun! And I found out some interesting information. It will hopefully be published soon and I will let you know when it is!
Those raw balls look wonderful! I hear ya on all the jibber jabber about weight loss and stuff this time of year. Uggggh. People should lose weight for the right reasons and when they're ready, not because it's January!
ReplyDeletehey girl! thanks for stopping by my blog :) i hope you stay and hang!
ReplyDeletethis post totally made me want a spiralizer even more! and i'm a spinaholic too :) so fun!
Oh, man...I totally get cravings. Like these days, I crave cashews and chocolate. But one thing I ALWAYS crave? Cheese, kabocha, and oats.
ReplyDeleteOh, i am always hungry after a workout. like, 10 min afterwards i'm starving...!
ReplyDeletei want those raw balls too! yummy!
There are so many things in this post I want to try or relate too.

ReplyDeletewow I've never thought of zucchini noodles - looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! What definitely helps you look great is your nutrition and eating habits. I have read an article recently, which stated the interview with Dr. Brian Wansink - one of the most renowned nutrition scientists. I have found a lot of interesting facts on how our eating habits are formed, and what we should do to improve them. Here is the article: militarygradenutritionals.com/blog/nutrition-in-sports/eat-with-your-stomach-not-your-brain-an-interview-with-dr-brian-wansink/.
